Thousands of older people in Scotland go weeks with only their television or pet for company. Many feel desperately alone and isolated.

We’re here to offer them companionship and a friendly ear. Our friendship services are a lifeline for isolated older people, and for some, we are the only people they speak to every week.

Duncan, 81 contacted our friendship line after his wife sadly passed away in 2021. He's struggled with the loneliness and silence in the house. He had no one else to talk to.

“I thought it would be nice to chat to somebody. I think it’s a really good thing – you can talk about anything and get to know the person you’re speaking with. It really makes a difference to me and I enjoy getting their calls”.

Every year, we answer thousands of calls from older people like Duncan who are desperately lonely and just want to talk to someone. But demand for our vital services is increasing rapidly.

Every £5 you give enables us to answer a call to a vulnerable older person who is feeling alone and isolated. You can help us be there when no one else is.

Our friendship line is vital. It was a lifeline to Duncan. With thousands of older people in Scotland going over a week without talking to anyone, it can make them feel disconnected and isolated.

Now, more than ever, older people need your help. Please donate today.

Together, we can make a difference and bring warmth, friendship and hope to those who need it most.
