No older person should be alone at Christmas.
While for many, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, for a lot of older people, it brings feelings of loneliness. Last year, one third of older people said they were not in the Christmas spirit and didn’t even decorate their homes. One of them is Hazel, who dreads the run-up to Christmas.
Everybody else is happy and they are happy with their families. I see people out Christmas shopping but I don’t have anyone to buy for.
Hazel, 69
Age Scotland is there for these older people, providing friendship calls, support, and a listening ear, because no one should have to face Christmas on their own.
