Age Scotland appeals for matchmakers!
Preparation is underway for a special seven-day match funding campaign this winter.
Whilst the festive season still feels far away, Age Scotland's preparations for the winter are in full swing. We support older people year-round, but every year the demand for our help always peaks as the colder days arrive, bringing increased financial hardship, social isolation and loneliness.
As demand increases, we need to ensure we can be there to help every older person who needs us this winter. To answer every call and provide a lifeline for friendship, advice and support when people need it most. To do this, we need to raise essential funds, and that’s why we’re already busy planning our biggest ever Christmas fundraising appeal.
We’re joining the Big Give Christmas Appeal, a seven-day online match-funding campaign which aims to raise a minimum of £60,000.
To do this, we’re appealing for match-makers, otherwise known as Pledgers. To achieve our £60,000 goal, we first need to raise pledges up to £15,000 before 28th August. Supporters can pledge as little as £100, and this can come from individuals, companies, trusts or foundations. Most importantly, every pledge helps us to unlock a further £15,000 from Big Give and enables us to double every donation made in December up to £30,000.
Funds raised will go towards our End Loneliness at Christmas Appeal and will increase capacity in our national free helpline. Having someone to talk to, providing friendship, advice and community support, can be a lifeline for older people.

Pledgers will get full support from our fundraising team, recognition during the campaign (if desired) and tools to help spread the word between 1st and 8th December. Monies pledged do not need to be paid after the campaign ends in December and before 15th January 2027.
