Dementia: A Whole Life Approach

"Dementia: A Whole Life Approach" is a resource for creating better lives. This boxset covers five key areas identified by the Trust in collaboration with people with dementia and unpaid carers.

Human Rights and Dementia

This volume examines what human rights look like for people living with dementia and unpaid carers and considers local dementia policy development through a human rights lens.

Community and Dementia

This volume discusses community and post-diagnostic support in Scotland and contains inclusions from all of Scotland's existing Trust-funded Dementia Friendly Communities alongside a ‘Dementia Friendly Toolkit’.

Peer Support and Dementia

People with dementia and unpaid carers say that the support of their peers is something they value the most. This volume features Trust funded peer support projects who describe how they support people living with dementia and unpaid carers to grow in confidence and feel better understood through peer support initiatives.

Independence, Confidence and Support

The work outlined in this volume illustrates some of the ways that a person living with dementia can be supported to live a life that is fulfilling and productive. This kind of work should be supported routinely by public authorities and other funding bodies across Scotland.

Information, Awareness and Training

This volume provides some useful resources for information, training and awareness for people living with dementia, those who care for them, unpaid, and anyone who works with people and families affected by dementia. It provides details of workshops, training and resources as well as tangible examples of how these resources have worked in, and can be applied to, everyday life.
