Celebrating connection at the Unforgotten Forces Gathering

Preparations are well underway for the second of our bi-annual Unforgotten Forces Gatherings. These events are about connection, learning and strengthening support for older veterans and we are greatly looking forward to welcoming our partners, charities and veterans’ organisations to the Stirling Court Hotel on Thursday, October 30.
Around 80 delegates are expected, making it a vibrant and friendly space to meet others, exchange ideas and discover new ways to work together.
We’re still finalising the programme but there will be two keynote speakers offering expert insight and practical advice. At our last event, we heard from Chris Ashworth, area manager for Scotland and Northern England, Office of Veterans Affairs and Dr Lynne Taylor, principal psychology advisor at the Scottish Government and mental health and wellbeing resources.
There will also be three interactive workshops, covering topics that matter most to older veterans and those who support them. Subjects include health, wellbeing, housing and community – but we also make space for activities that lift the spirits. Last time, participants joined a joyful singing session alongside workshops on substance misuse in communities and recognising the needs of female veterans.
Of course, no Gathering is complete without time to talk. The day includes a free lunch and plenty of opportunities to network, share experiences, and explore what it really means when it comes to veteran support. It’s about pooling our resources, understanding each other’s work, and making sure no veteran slips through the cracks.
Whether you’re a veteran, a supporter, or part of a charity or service that works with the Armed Forces community, you’ll leave with fresh ideas, new contacts, and renewed energy for the work ahead.

We look forward to welcoming you to a full day of connection, learning, and camaraderie.
