Dunelm partnership delivers joy for older people at Christmas

Age Scotland’s valuable partnership with Dunelm has been instrumental in helping to improve the lives of older people across Scotland – and never more so than at Christmas.

Last December we were delighted to work alongside the company for their Delivering Joy campaign which aims to make sure that nobody goes without a gift at Christmas. Over the past five years, the campaign has delivered more than a quarter of a million gifts across the UK.

Our partnership was with Dunelm stores in Edinburgh,  Aberdeen, Kirkcaldy, Paisley and Kilmarnock where customers could find the Delivering Joy tree in each store, collect a tag with a gift request and then return a gift to be delivered to an older person in need for Christmas.

Once the gifts began arriving, the Age Scotland office was transformed into Santa’s grotto. The team was blown away by the generosity of Dunelm’s staff and customers. From little luxuries such as chocolate boxes and toiletry sets, all the way to electric blankets and books galore, every gift provided was incredibly thoughtful and gratefully received.

The Polish Senior Group in Aberdeenshire, one of our member groups which received gifts from Dunelm Aberdeen, said:

“On behalf of our community Polish Senior Club Aberdeen, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dunelm Aberdeen and everyone involved in the Delivering Joy Christmas Appeal.

“The generosity and kindness shown by your customers and staff truly made a difference and brought so much joy to our seniors. Working together in partnership with Age Scotland, you helped create a truly magical and memorable Christmas for our seniors. 

“Moments like these remind us of the power of community, kindness, and collaboration.”

 

In total 1,591 gifts were donated to Age Scotland and delivered to 47 member groups as part of the Delivering Joy initiative.

Overall, in collaboration with our Big Gift Appeal, Dunelm’s Delivering Joy initiative contributed to delivering a record-breaking 2,664 gifts to 75 member groups across Scotland.

Thank you to the five Dunelm stores that supported Age Scotland this festive season, and to every Dunelm store across Scotland for continuing to support our vision and ensure that no one in Scotland faces the challenges of older age alone.
