Bladder and bowel problems

Older person at doctors

People of all ages can have difficulty controlling their bladder or bowel. As people get older this may become more of an issue and it can really affect their day-to-day lives.

Bladder and bowel problems are not always easy to speak about; many people do not talk about what is happening to them or ask for help. They may think nothing can be done, or find it an embarrassing topic to talk about, but a GP or nurse can reassure you and do a lot to help.

This guide looks at common problems, and some of the things you can do to cure, treat, or manage them so they do not interfere with your everyday life.
