Housing and Energy 2025 National Survey

Our 2025 national housing and energy survey explored older people’s feelings about the suitability of their own home, their future housing intentions, home accessibility needs, their local community, the cost of living, using and paying for energy, and energy efficiency measures in their home.

Funded by the Scottish Government and SGN, it identifies many challenges for older people including record levels of fuel poverty, one in seven are living in unsuitable homes, and the need to improve access to home adaptation services. 

We conducted similar surveys in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023 and where questions align, it includes references to changes over time.
